A: No, ChronoPay does not set volume caps at the Merchant level. You can process as much volume as possible unless we have established a volume cap for your particular industry. Please contact us at sales@chronopay.com and provide your industry if you wish to find out if we have set any set caps.

Q: Are there any restrictions on the amount I can charge for my goods/services?

A: No, there are no restrictions. You can charge any amount you wish. You can also offer as many different prices as you wish, so if you have multiple products and/or services, they can each have their own pricing.

Q: Can customers outside the European Union make payments via ChronoPay?

A: Yes, anyone from anywhere in the world can purchase content/services/products from the websites of our European merchants. ChronoPay is a true multi-currency Payment Service Provider. We can accept transactions in US Dollars, Euros, British Pounds and many other international currencies.

Q: Is the customer's credit card data safe with ChronoPay?

A: Yes. ChronoPay has been a VISA Account Information Security (AIS) Certified PSP since early in 2004. To become AIS certified, a company must successfully pass a full audit and site inspection. ChronoPay's inspection was performed by SRC Security Research and Consulting Gmbh, Germany - the first network security auditor to perform both MasterCard Site Data Protection (SDP) and VISA Account Information Security (AIS) program. ChronoPay treats security very seriously. Additionally, ChronoPay is now compliant with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards, which is the combined standard by Visa and MasterCard. All processors are required to be PCI compliant.

Q: Do you offer the ability to process via 3D Secure (Verified by Visa) and MasterCard Secure Code?

A: Yes, we do.

Q: Can I initiate refunds myself?

A: Yes, you can. Within your Client Admin Site, you can manually initiate refunds.

Q: What is 3D Secure?

A: Visa has developed a technology to increase the security of the credit card transactions that you accept. Now provided by both Visa and MasterCard, 3D Secure technology is offered under the "Verified by Visa"and "MasterCard SecureCode" brand name.

The basic concept of the protocol is to tie the financial authorization process with an online authentication. This authentication is based on a 3 domain model (that is the 3-D in the name). The three domains are: Acquirer Domain (the commerce), the Issuer Domain (the bank issuer of the credit card) and finally the Interoperability Domain (Worldwide credit card and support).

Q: What are the advantages of 3D Secure?

A: With 3D Secure, the risk of fraud and payment loss due to card misuse is significantly reduced.

Cardholders are protected from misuse of their credit card numbers because they have to produce confirmation of identity (i.e., by entering a code, before making a payment). The code is checked directly by the card issuer in real-time, before allowing the transaction to continue.

Both Mastercard SecureCode and Verified by Visa protect the merchant. Because of the secure password requirement, the cardholder's identity was confirmed prior to the purchase and the liability is shifted away from the merchant.

Benefits for Merchants:
  • 3-D secure can be readily integrated into existing e–commerce systems
  • Real–time cardholder authentication at time of purchase
  • Improved profitability through increased sales and reduced costs
  • Substantially reduced rates of fraudulent transactions and chargebacks
  • Increased cardholder confidence leads to increased sales
  • Minimal impact on the existing checkout process

Q: How does 3D Secure work?

A: When enrolled shoppers choose to pay online, a prompt from their card issuer appears and requests their personal password (similar to visiting an ATM machines). Within seconds, the card issuer confirms the identity of the shopper and allows the purchase to continue.
