The goal of 3-D-Secure / SecureCode is to authenticate the consumer by the entry and verification of a designated password or PIN prior to the completion of an Internet purchase. The 3-D Secure / SecureCode step slots into the payment process before the normal financial authorization request is sent by the merchant to his acquirer. The 3-D Secure / SecureCode protocol uses dedicated messages
that flow over the Internet between the merchant, card scheme and issuer, outside of the network used for the financial authorization and clearing messages.

ChronoPay is pleased to announce that today the company has acquired it's own 3D Secure / SecureCode MPI module from TietoEnator. While ChronoPay as most other Payment Service Providers has always supported 3D Secure/ SecureCode technology based on the modules provided by it’s acquiring banks ChronoPay has found a few improvements in running it's own module which could not have been disregarded. The obvious problems of all PSPs operating in a multi-acquirer environment using their acquirers 3D modules is that not yet all of the acquirers have 3D Secure / SecureCode supported or operational and that the 3D Secure / SecureCode system requires that the actual connection with the customer must be performed on the side where the MPI module actually resides which leads to the problem that some customers simply find it surprising being suddenly transferred from the PSP payment page to the 3D Secure / SecureCode page on the acquirer side. The obvious and simple advantage of having the module up and running on the PSP side is that
the process stays in-house and is fully managed by the PSP.

Thus ChronoPay has chosen to acquire its own certified MPI module and has made a choice to acquire the module from TietoEnator - a world-wide known software development international corporation.
