AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - ChronoPay B.V., the European leader in safe and reliable online payment solutions, is proud to announce that they have achieved Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI) Compliance. Such compliance is required of all merchants and service providers that store, process, or transmit credit card data.

PCI is the industry standard, which was created in 2004 as a collaboration among the credit card organisations MasterCard International and Visa International, each of which had previously initiated their own security standards. The individual programs, which included Visa Account Information Security (AIS) and MasterCard Site Data Protection (SDP) were incorporated into the PCI standard, creating a single approach to safeguarding sensitive data for all card brands. 

To meet the PCI Data Security Standard ChronoPay B.V. must fulfil a number of stringent requirements, including the following:

• Build and maintain a secure network
• Protect cardholder data
• Maintain a vulnerability management programme
• Implement strong access control measures
• Regularly monitor and test networks
• Maintain an information security policy
